Harmanpreet on India’s ‘aggressive’ approach: Now we play courageous cricket.

Now, Harmanpreet replied, “Now we play brave cricket” to that ‘aggressive’ attitude of India.
Harmanpreet Kaur opened up on the aggressive attitude that the India women’s team has taken. She admitted that in the past, on occasions when things didn’t go according to their plan, the team would be caught off guard. He revealed that India has changed its strategy from being frightened to one that looks to attack. Opining on the bold transition of playing bold cricket and daring decisions, the captain commented on the adaptation of the same. As of now, the Indian team is participating in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024. The last year’s champions have played their initial two matches with back-to-back victories coming against Pakistan and The United Arab Emirates.
We have had quite a good run in the past seven to eight years. Even before that, we played cricket, but we could not win as many tournaments as we did now, and we could certainly not play cricket as scintillating as it is today.

Hence, we always discuss that when there are two options, we will always opt for the more aggressive one. Earlier, it used to seem like we were playing a game of cricket with a bit of fear,” Harmanpreet told Star Sports.

“Made people come to stadiums with our performances”

“When things didn’t go according to our plan, we used to get scared very quickly, but now we play a little brave cricket, so we make brave decisions. With time, we have forced people to come to the stadium through our performance.”

Indian team’s recent rise

The Indian team has already made a semifinal place in the Women’s Asia Cup and is heading toward defending the championship successfully to clinch the trophy for the eighth time in the ninth edition of the tournament. At this juncture, the Indian women’s team is receiving phenomenal success in the home series.

Although they played three Test matches against England, Australia and South Africa yet all were their failures but victories. On the other hand, the Indian women cricket team has not been availed an ICC Championship up till now. They nearly won while playing the women’s One-Day International World Cup in 2005 and 2017 and in the Twenty20 World Cup final in 2020.

The team led by Harmanpreet Kaur would be looking forward to break this title drought with the Women’s Twenty20 World Cup in October and the One-Day Internationals World Cup on home soil next year.
