Kalki 2898 AD box office collection day 31: After a slump for the last couple of days, the Prabhas’ film witnessed a 120 per cent rise in its collection on the fifth Saturday.
In the fifth weekend, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone-starrer Kalki 2898 AD is racing forwards with its increasing collection at the box office. The film recovered from a slump it faced over the past days by increasing its rate at 120 per cent on the fifth Saturday to Rs 2.9 crores. This has brought the total domestic earnings to Rs 627.85 crore.
The film now records an overall 29.15 per cent Hindi occupancy, followed by Telugu occupancy at 26.18 per cent. This Nag Ashwin epic simply refuses to relent even as it completes a month running in theatres, keeping up the steady momentum to beat Shah Rukh Khan’s last year’s blockbuster Jawan that minted Rs 640.25 crore in India.
While Kalki 2898 AD’s worldwide box office stands at Rs 1100 crore beating Shah Rukh’s other giant hit Pathaan, it still has to cross the Jawan worldwide box office collection of Rs 1160 crore to become the 5th highest-grossing film of all time. Prabhas already has his film – Baahubali 2: The Conclusion – second on the list of the highest-grossing films of all time.
Though many Hindi films came and bombarded the box office – Vicky Kaushal’s Bad News and Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira, none of the films turned out big competition for Kalki 2898 AD. Though on a medium scale Bad News did pick up and it earned Rs 48.25 crore within nine days of its release, Sarfira went completely unnoticed by the audience.
On the other hand, the Hollywood superhero film Deadpool & Wolverine is out in theatres since July 26 and is giving some competition to the Prabhas-starrer. It minted Rs 21 crore in India on day one of its release, followed by Rs 22.50 crore on day two, reached Rs 43.50 crore in India within just two days of its release.
Helmed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in the lead. It features cameos by actors like Disha Patani, Ram Gopal Varma, SS Rajamouli, Dulquer Salmaan, Anna Ben, and Vijay Deverakonda.
