Kangana Ranaut filed a speech video in Parliament for the first time as an MP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. He talked about preserving local art.
Kangana Ranaut is having a conversation after criticizing Mandi Vijay in the Himachal Pradesh High Court. On Wednesday, the actor-politician took to Instagram-X to share a video of his first speech in Parliament. The BJP MP referred to the ‘decline’ of tribal music and folk art in Himachal. Thanking the honorable Speaker for giving me the opportunity to speak before the Parliament on behalf of the people of Mandi, Kangana said in Hindi, “There are art forms in Mandi that are on the verge of extinction.”
In Himachal Pradesh, there is an indigenous construction technique known as kath-kuni, which uses sheep skin to make various types of clothing such as jackets, caps, shawls, and sweaters. These are valued in other countries, but they are becoming extinct in India. We should discuss what actions are being taken to promote these.”
Ranaut began her speech by expressing gratitude towards Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for giving her opportunity to speak about the Mandi district.
He continued, “I would also like to point out that the folk songs of Himachal Pradesh, especially the tribal songs of Spiti, Kinnaur and Bharmur and their folk arts are on the verge of extinction. So, what.” What are we going to do about them?
“Today I got my first opportunity to speak for Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) in Parliament,” Kangana wrote in her notes.
BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s election challenge:
The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Thursday issued a notice to BJP Lok Sabha MP Kangana from Mandi. A resident of Kinnaur has filed a petition seeking annulment of Kangana’s election on the grounds that her nomination papers were allegedly unfairly rejected to contest from the Lok Sabha constituency.
Issuing the notice, Justice Jyotsna Rewal directed Kangana to file a reply by August 21. She had won from Mandi Lok Sabha seat, defeating Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh by 74,755 votes. She had polled 5,37,002 votes against his 4,62,267 votes.

Negi, a former forest department employee, said he resigned early and submitted a “no dues certificate” from the department to the chief inspector along with his nomination papers.

Meanwhile in Lok Sabha election 2024, Actress Kangana Ranaut won the Mandi Lok Sabha seat on BJP ticket. Defeating congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh with a margin of 74,755 votes.
In this election Ranaut received 537,002 votes, while Singh on the other hand received 462,267 votes.
