Prabhas' Kalki 2898 AD will be available on Prime Video starting this date!

Nag Ashwin’s 3D spectacle “Kalki 2898 AD” will make its OTT debut on Prime Video on August 22, the streamer announced on Saturday. Starring an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Prabhas and Kamal Haasan, this action-adventure film will be available on Prime Video in Telugu, apart from Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, with subtitles in English, the company said in a press release.

Touted as a marriage of Hindu epic Mahabharata and science fiction, this big-budget film is produced by Vyjayanthi Movies and hit theatres across the country on June 27. Since its release into theatres, the film has emerged as one of the biggest films of 2024, earning over Rs 1100 crore at the worldwide box office. The experience of working on the film was “truly exhilarating,” so says Prabhas, the actor who has played the role of Bhairava in this movie.

“The film has crossed all barriers of storytelling with a mix of mythology and futuristic elements, going really deep into the depths of human nature. So playing a strong and righteous Bhairava was refreshing and enriching. After all the love that ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ received from audiences in theaters, I just can’t wait for its global premiere on Prime Video,” said the actor.
One of the best-known works by Ashwin was “Yevade Subramanyam”, but he has also worked on the National Award-winning movie “Mahanati”. He says his goal with “Kalki 2898 AD” was to create a cinematic experience that breaks new ground, transcends traditional boundaries, and shares India’s cultural mythology on a global scale. “The humbling success of the film at the global box office is an indicator that films with roots in Indian mythology do have universal appeal. While it has found a lot of love in theatres, I am excited for ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ to now stream on Prime Video, reaching even more audiences globally,” he added.

Manish Menghani, Director, Content Licensing, Prime Video India, praised the film for keeping audiences on tenterhooks with “immersive storytelling and visionary portrayal of a post-apocalyptic future.” “The engrossing storyline brought alive by sterling performances by its fabulous cast, and the haunting representation of a dystopian world have hit the right note with audiences as it clocked phenomenal box office success,” he said. Kalki 2898 AD is produced by Priyanka Dutt, C Aswani Dutt, and Swapna Dutt for Vyjayanthi Movies. The film will be available in Hindi on Netflix.
