Alan Rickman, known for playing Severus Snape in all eight films of the Harry Potter series, had shared his advice for young actors entering the industry.
Alan Rickman’s guidance for young, aspiring actors who wish to pursue acting as a career appears to have influenced Priyanka Chopra. On Monday, Priyanka posted a brief clip from the late actor’s interview, in which he discussed his thoughts on acting, to her Instagram Stories. Look it over. What Alan Rickman disclosed?
Alan was heard saying in the video, which came from an Instagram fan page, “What advice do you give me now when young actors ask me now? You know, I’m considering getting trained. Whatever, I want to be an actor. “Forget about acting,” I say. And at that moment, I truly mean it because as an actor, everything you do builds up.
It concerns what I say. Visit art galleries, take in musical performances, stay up to date on global news, and develop your own opinions. Develop your taste and judgment so that your well-nourished imagination will have something to bounce off of when you come across a high-caliber piece of writing.
Acclaimed for his portrayal of Severus Snape in the Harry Potter series, Alan Rickman was one of the most beloved actors of his era. Truly Madly Deeply, Sense and Sensibility, Love Actually, and Alice in Wonderland are some of his other works. In 2016, pancreatic cancer claimed his life.
Idris Elba and John Cena will co-star with Priyanka in Ilya Naishuller’s Heads of State shortly. She completed the movie’s filming earlier this month. Additionally, Priyanka joined the Oscar-nominated documentary To Kill A Tiger as an executive producer. She also has a leading role in Frank E. Flowers’ upcoming film, The Bluff. Karl Urban will also star in it.
Priyanka Chopra seems to have been influenced by Alan Rickman’s counsel for young actors who are thinking about pursuing a career in acting.
On Monday, May 27, 2024, the 41-year-old actress posted a clip from an old interview with the late actor Alan, in which he discussed his thoughts on acting, on her Instagram story.
In the video, the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone star said, “Whenever young actors now say to me, what advice do you give me? You know, I’m thinking about training. I want to be an actor, whatever.”
“I say, ‘Forget about acting.’ And I really mean it at that point in time because whatever you do as an actor is cumulative.”
“It’s about what I say. Go to art galleries, listen to music, know what’s happening on the news in the world and form opinions. Develop your taste and judgment so that when a quality piece of writing is put in front of you, your imagination, which you’ve nurtured, has something to bounce off of.”
On the professional front, Priyanka is set to appear in Heads of State alongside Idris Elba and John Cena. She concluded filming for the movie earlier this month.
Additionally, the Love Again actress has taken on the role of executive producer for the Oscar-nominated documentary To Kill A Tiger.
She is also slated to star in The Bluff, directed by Frank E Flowers and co-starring Karl Urban.
Up until that point, the majority of his career had been developed in Britain, most notably at the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he made an impression in plays like Les Liaisons Dangereuses, following an apprenticeship in repertory theater and Rada. He was always in demand for the big screen after Die Hard.
His first film was the romantic comedy Truly, Madly, Deeply, starring Juliet Stevenson in 1990. He then went on to star in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, where he played the iconic Sheriff of Nottingham.
After Robin Hood, Rickman started diligently maintaining his journal. What follows is a condensed story of his early on-screen years prior to Harry Potter and his return to the stage in Antony and Cleopatra, opposite Helen Mirren.
Alan’s last diary entry was on 12 December, but he had been getting weaker and writing less for some time. All through the autumn he was eating less and often feeling sick. But we continued to do most of the things that had always been part of our life. We saw films and plays, met friends, went out to dinner or entertained at home.
Alan also spent a lot of time watching TV – his two favourite programmes at that time were Don’t Tell the Bride and Say Yes to the Dress. Our trip to New York in November was very important. To stay in our flat again and see so many of the friends who had meant so much to us over the years. Alan loved New York.
He went downhill after that. He was admitted to hospital on 20 December and never left.
