Indian wrestling star vinesh phogat returned home on friday following the notice of her appeal in the court of negotiation for sport for a joint silver medal at the 2024 paris olympic.The 29-year -old had been disqualified from the women’s 53kg freestyle final for missing the advised weight limit by 100 gm.

Vinesh Phogat was received by winning medal athletes of the Rio Games, Sakshi Malik, and Tokyo Olympics, Bajrang Punia. Her family members, well-wishers, and political leaders turned up at the airport to welcome her home.

Recently ,vignesh phogat’s coach,woller Akos .revealed that the wrestler was made to undergo intense weight -cutting sessions to shed the extra 100 g.The news came to light only on the night before her final match-she had missed the required mark of weight.

Hence ,she indulged in extreame measuresto lose weight for five hours of time.sources says that she even drewed blood ,withheld for food and water intake,and even shaved her hair her coach said she did “everything possible”to make the cut.

The Indian olympic association termed it an inhumane rule after CAS threw out phogats petition.The body further said it was “exploring further legal options”

so what she did not get the olympic medal she richly deserved?so what she had gone through a night mare last few days in paris ? The ones that gathered ,which included an illustrious list of olympic medalists,bajrang punia,sakshi malik and vijender singh,made her feel like the champion she is.

For far too long, Vinesh had carried the burden of losing out on a medal due to her disqualification from the women’s 50kg wrestling hours before her gold medal bout for being 100 grams overweight. And it all rolled down her cheeks the moment she got the reception from her supporters. Vinesh let the tears flow, on Sakshi’s shoulder and wrapped around Bajrang’s arms. She made brief attempts to wipe them in the beginning but quickly realised it was a futile attempt.

Vinesh stood in an open Jeep and thanked all the supporters. She found it hard to say anything on the microphones, desperately seeking her reaction but after honest attempts from her close ones, she finally did. “I thank the entire country,” she said, her hands folded in humility.

Vinesh’s caravan left for her native village Balali in Haryana and on the way she met her supporters, positioned at different spots.A group of 50 followed her jeep. They offered prayers at a temple in Delhi’s Dwarka before continuing their journey towards Balali.Vinesh had stayed back in Paris after challenging her disqualification in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and demanding a joint silver. The application was dismissed on Wednesday.

“She has come back to her country after such a long time. She is very emotional also. She will spend time with family and calm herself. What Vinesh has done for women is praiseworthy. She might not have received a medal, but she is a champion for us,” said Sakshi Malik.
