List of candidates for the Samajwadi Party in 2024: Candidates for sixteen seats in Uttar Pradesh were declared by the Samajwadi Party on Tuesday, in preparation for the Lok Sabha elections that will take place in 2024.
During the election, the party has chosen to run Dimple Yadav, who hails from the party’s stronghold of Mainpuri. Ravidas Mehrotra from Lucknow, Dharmendra Yadav from Badaun, and Akshay Yadav from Firozabad are three other candidates who have already garnered significant attention.
The list was made public just a few days after the Samajwadi Party made the announcement that the Congress will run for 11 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh as part of the INDIA bloc coalition. The Congress, on the other hand, had swiftly responded by declaring that discussions concerning seat-sharing were still in progress and that a “decision was expected soon.”
With regard to the Lok Sabha elections, Akhilesh Yadav’s PDA formula
In preparation for the Lok Sabha elections, the Samajwadi Party has advocated for the PDA formula, which refers to the consolidation of votes in favor of the party from the Pichde, Dalit, and Alpasankhyak communities. It is estimated that over 80 percent of the total voters in the state are identified as belonging to the PDA bloc, which is comprised of Dalits and other minorities.
There are around forty-five to forty-five percent of People of Color (OBC) in Uttar Pradesh, twenty percent of Dalits, and nineteen percent of Muslim voters in the state.
On the other hand, the Yadav community accounts for nine percent of the total voters. However, according to Akhilesh, the letter ‘A’ in the PDA does not only refer to members of the minority group; it also encompasses members of the ‘Agda’ (upper castes), the ‘Aadhi Aabadi’ (women), and the ‘Adivasi’ (tribals).
Ameeq Jamei, a spokeswoman for the Samajwadi Party, stated in an interview with the media that the impending elections for the Lok Sabha present an opportunity to safeguard India’s secular democracy. The head of our party, Akhilesh Yadav, has said that our party will share seats with the Congress and the RLD. This is an example of a model. He said that a second round of negotiations with the Congress would take place.
An announcement made by Akhilesh on Saturday stated that the alliance between his party and the Congress was “off to a good start.” This was in reference to the fact that the Congress is running for 11 “strong” Lok Sabha seats in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
