In preparation for the next Rajya Sabha elections in 2024, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its candidates for representatives in the states of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal. The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has revealed their candidates for the next Rajya Sabha elections in the year 2024.

These candidates will represent the states of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal. The announcement was made today (February 11).There are seven states in India that have put out nominations for candidates, including Sudhanshu Trivedi, RPN Singh, Subhash Barala, and Mahendra Bhatt, among others.

Former Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala was announced as the party’s candidate from Haryana. A total of fourteen candidates were announced by the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections. Among them are the former Union minister RPN Singh and the outgoing Member of Parliament Sudhanshu Trivedi from Uttar Pradesh, as well as the Uttarakhand unit president Mahendra Bhatt from the hill state.

None of the Union ministers, whose terms are coming to an end, were named in the list with a strong chance that several of them may fight the Lok Sabha polls. However, the party has not yet announced a large number of candidates.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, a minister of the Union who represents Karnataka in the Rajya Sabha, and Anil Baluni, the chief spokesperson and media head for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who is the outgoing member of parliament from Uttarakhand, have not been nominated. Both may be fielded by the party in the Lok Sabha polls, sources added.

There is a great deal of uncertainty regarding the future of senior Bihar leader Sushil Kumar Modi because his name was not included among the candidates that the party has named. As of right now, there are six seats up for grabs in the state of Bihar, and both the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition are likely to end up winning three of those seats. For one of the seats, the JD(U), which is an ally of the BJP, is likely to announce its candidate.

Prior to beginning his membership in the BJP, RPN Singh, who is a member of the politically significant Kurmi caste, was a member of the Congress party. Subhash Barala, who served as the head of the Haryana BJP in the past, will be the party’s candidate from the state.

During what time will the RS polls be held?

Elections for 56 Rajya Sabha seats distributed across 15 states are set to be held on February 27 (Tuesday), and the latest date for registering nominations is February 15 (Thursday). Andhra Pradesh’s K Ravindra Kumar (TDP), CM Ramesh (BJP), and V Prabhakar Reddy (YSRCP) will soon be completing their mandates as members of the Regional Assembly (RS).

For the RS elections, the TMC has selected journalist Sagarika Ghose and Sushmita Dev.

The names of journalist Sagarika Ghose, party leader Sushmita Dev, and two other individuals were included in the announcement made by the Trinamool Congress today on the impending Rajya Sabha elections from the state. On February 27, elections will be held for the five Rajya Sabha seats that are located in the state of West Bengal.

“We are pleased to announce the candidature of @sagarikaghose, @SushmitaDevAITC, @MdNadimulHaque6 and Mamata Bala Thakur for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections” , the party wrote on its Facebook page.

“We extend our heartfelt wishes to them and may they work towards upholding Trinamool’s enduring legacy of indomitable spirit and advocacy for the rights of every Indian” , the statement continued.

While Nadimul Haque, a two-time member of the Rajya Sabha, is once again in the spotlight, the decision of the party to not renominate three current members of parliament—Subhasish Chakraborty, Abir Biswas, and Santanu Sen—marks a significant shift in the party’s policy.

It has not yet been confirmed that Ghose, a well-known journalist, will be joining the TMC. Dev, a former leader of the Congress party who joined the TMC in 2021, served as the party’s member of parliament for the Rajya Sabha from October 2021 to August 2023. This was after Manas Bhunia, the head of the TMC, chose to leave the seat in order to join the cabinet of West Bengal.

As well as serving as the national spokesperson for the TMC, Dev is in charge of the party’s operations in the state of Assam. With that being said, the nomination of Mamata Bala Thakur, a former member of the Lok Sabha and the leader of the Matua party, has garnered a great amount of interest.

Sudhanshu Trivedi, RPN Singh, Subhash Barala, and others are BJP Rajya Sabha candidates in 2024.

Thakur, who had previously served as a member of the Lok Sabha thrice, was defeated in the Matua-dominated Bongaon constituency in 2019 by Shantanu Thakur, a related of Thakur to the BJP.

In the midst of the BJP’s efforts to attract the Matua community with promises of enacting the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in advance of the Lok Sabha elections, Thakur has been nominated for the position with the government. The unified voting behavior of the Matua community elevates them to the status of an important voting bloc, particularly in accordance with the position taken by the BJP about the CAA.

The Matua community was instrumental in the saffron surge that occurred in the state during the 2019 elections. This surge was fueled by the promises made by the Citizenship and Authentication Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC). Veteran journalist Nadimul Haque hailed the support of TMC leaders Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve the masses. He also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the masses.

“I thank our party supremo Mamata Banerjee and general secretary Abhishek Banerjee for providing me this opportunity for the third time to serve the masses,” stated the politician.

Considering that the TMC has a solid majority of 217 in the 294-member assembly, which includes the support of six BJP MLAs who defected to the ruling party but have not yet resigned, it appears that the party would be able to dominate the next elections for the Rajya Sabha. Unofficially, the BJP has 68 seats in the legislature, despite the fact that their official total in the assembly is 74. This is because of defections.

According to the strength of the legislature, the TMC is expected to claim four of the five Rajya Sabha seats, while the BJP is expected to gain the fifth seat.
