Amit Shah says ‘Rahul Gandhi lies publicly’ after Congress MP questioned PM Modi’s caste | Mint

Union Home Minister Amit Shan attacked former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday for questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s caste, accusing him of repeatedly lying in public. The remarks were made while addressing the ET Now-Global Business summit.

On February 8, Rahul Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not an OBC by birth. “Narendra Modi is not an OBC by birth; rather, the Gujarat BJP administration designated him as such. He will never do justice to the rights and share of the backward people.”

Amit Shah responded by lambasting Rahul Gandhi, claiming that the Congress has a reputation of manipulating facts and causing controversy.

“Rahul Gandhi has a policy of lying in public and doing it repeatedly. As for PM Narendra Modi’s caste, I doubt the Congress understands the distinction between bloc and caste. PM Modi stated that he belongs to the OBC, which is a bloc rather than a caste. Perhaps Rahul Gandhi’s teachers didn’t tell him this. “It is extremely sad that questions about the Prime Minister’s caste are being raised,” Shah stated, as reported by ANI. Modi ji’s community (jati) was categorized as OBC on July 25, 1994, when Gujarat’s chief minister was Chhabildas Mehta and the ruling party was Congress. Modi ji had not yet contested an election and was mostly working for the party,” he said.

The Congress-led state administration classified the community as OBC. Congress provided recommendations to the federal government in 1994, which they adopted and listed in 2000. Even in 2000, Modi ji had no position in the government, not as an MP, MLA, or sarpanch. “Modi ji became Gujarat’s chief minister in 2001,” the Home Minister added.

He went on to say that Congress has a habit of manipulating facts and generating controversy around them. “If they are creating controversy around it, I want to ask them what they did for the communities who fall under the OBC category.” The Home Minister stated that it was PM Modi who granted constitutional status to OBC communities, established an OBC commission, and implemented OBC job reservations in the central government.

“The reports prepared by the Kaka Kalerkar Commission and the Mandal Commission were not implemented for many years.” Modi ji granted constitutional status to OBC communities and established an OBC Commission. Modi ji implemented OBC reservations for central government positions. Whereas Congress has always been anti-OBC, they believe they can gain the sympathies of OBCs by telling lies,” Shah added.

“Congress has always been an anti-OBC party and they think they can garner the sympathy of OBCs just by speaking lies,” he said in an interview with ANI. Amit Shah further stated that the Congress has to recognize that the majority of the secretaries were appointed during the Congress rule. “They don’t see that the prime minister of the country is an OBC, but they ask about the number of OBC secretaries,” he went on to say.

The Home Minister also addressed the historic resolution on Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha, which was being debated in Parliament.

In response to allegations that the recent Bharat Ratna awards were only intended to reap political benefits, Amit Shah emphasized the contributions the award winners made to the country’s progress, according to ANI.

“If the title to farmlands in our country belongs to the farmers, all recognition should be given to Late Chaudhary Charan Singh. When Jawaharlal Nehru was prime minister, he introduced the concept of collective farming in accordance with communist principles.

Chaudhary Charan Singh was the lone Congress leader who left the party to oppose the move and fight for farmers’ rights.”Narasimha Rao has spent years working to ensure that Congress remains institutionalized. He was a linguist. Despite being from the south, he possessed extensive knowledge of the entire country, including its culture, language, and history.

“And India can never forget Swaminathan ji’s contributions to the green revolution. Swaminathan ji’s services have helped us become self-sufficient in food grains,” Shah added.

Shah sharpened his attack on Congress, claiming that the Bharat Ratna medals given during the Congress rule were either compelled or came from their ‘family’.
