The ruling YSR Congress is trailing far behind with gains on only 24 seats. In Odisha, BJP is getting closer to the halfway mark while Naveen Patnaik’s ruling BJD is trailing. The counting of votes for the Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha began at 8 am.
The Odisha Assembly polls seek to elect 147 members to the state’s Legislative Assembly. The state voted for the Lok Sabha Elections and the assembly polls simultaneously from May 13 to June 1, over four phases.The ruling Biju Janata Dal is eyeing another term in the state under Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who has held the post for over 24 years. The BJD is contesting on 147 seats, BJP on 147 seats, Indian National Congress on 145 seats, Communist Party of India (Marxist) on 7 seats.
In Andhra Pradesh, Assembly Elections were held on May 13, along with the Lok Sabha polls. Seeking another term, the YSRCP contested on all 175 seats alone, while the TDP fielded candidates on 144 seats. Pawan Kalyan-led Jana Sena Party (JSP) contested on 21 seats and the BJP on 10 seats. Key contenders include Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy (YSRCP), TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, JSP’s Pawan Kalyan.

At 11.30, BJP has crossed the majority mark in Odisha even as BJD made gains on 49 seats. At 11 am, BJP is leading on 71 seats while ruling BJD has made gains on 40 seats. At third place, Congress is leading on 11 seats.
Andhra Pradesh Election Results: TDP Leads On 131 Seats, YSR Congress Ahead On 21. TDP leads on 131 seats in Andhra Pradesh. YSR Congress is trailing behind, with gains on only 21 seats.
At 10am, BJP has made strong gains on 58 seats in Odisha. The ruling BJD is lagging behind with gains on 3 seats while Congress is placed third with gains on 13 seats.
In Odisha, BJP has made strong gain in 28 seats while the ruling BJD is leading on 18 seats. Congress has made gains on 2 constituencies.
The counting of votes has begun at the Pulivendula constituency, which is one of the seats that make up the Andhra Pradesh assembly. It is one of seven assembly segments of the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency. Incumbent Chief Minister and YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy is contesting from Pulivendula against TDP’s B Tech Ravi. In the 2019 Andhra Pradesh assembly elections, YSRCP candidate Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy won the Pulivendla seat, polling 1,32,356 votes.
