“Very Emotional Moment For Me”: PM Modi On Bharat Ratna To LK Advani

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Saturday that veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani will receive the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.

“The conferring of the Bharat Ratna on him is a very emotional moment for me,” PM Modi said on his official X account, tagging two photos with the 96-year-old politician.The Prime Minister said he spoke with Mr Advani, a former deputy prime minister, and congratulated him on receiving this honor.

He is one of the most revered leaders of our time, and his contribution to India’s progress has been immense. His is a life that began with grassroots effort and has culminated in his service to the nation as Deputy Prime Minister,” PM Modi wrote.

LK Advani has been the longest-serving president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, which was founded in 1980.

He is credited with shaping the BJP’s growth in the 1990s, when it first came to power as the head of coalition governments under Atal Bihari Vajpayee.He was deputy prime minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s cabinet from 2002 to 2004.
